Information about a PGO

A Personal Health Environment (PGO) is an app or website where you can view and collect your health information. You can add information yourself, load your medical records from your GP and possibly the records from the hospital you visit and your pharmacy.

Benefits of a PGO

  • All your medical data in one online environment. Also from the past.
  • You can add data yourself, such as blood pressure readings, what you eat and how much you exercise.
  • You can better prepare for a visit to the doctor.
  • When you switch doctors, you still have access to all your data.

PGO and the doccs app

A PGO is a separate, online environment where you can combine various medical data. A PGO does not belong to your doctor, hospital or pharmacy; you choose it yourself.

The doccs app is there for contact between you and your GP at doccs. Here you can ask all your (healthcare) questions, make appointments and request repeat medication. All medical data discussed there and important for your medical record, we store in your file in another place. And this file, you can view in a PGO.

Safety first

You can only retrieve your medical data from your GP, pharmacy or hospital if they are affiliated with MedMij. MedMij is the Dutch standard for the secure exchange and storage of health data. In addition, only PGOs with a MedMij label can connect to your healthcare facility. If a PGO has a MedMij label, you can be sure that it is safe. Want to know more? Then visit www.medmij.nl.

Choosing a PGO

There are several different PGOs. Each PGO allows you to maintain different data. For example, you can link some PGO’s to your pedometer or sleep app, or one PGO focuses specifically on diabetes patients. So choose a PGO with features that are important to you. A list of PGO’s can be found here.

How do you find your healthcare provider in a PGO?

You can look up all healthcare providers affiliated with MedMij in your PGO. Search by name of the healthcare facility, for example, “general practice doccs [location]”.
